3 Years in Action
HR Girlfriends Tribe is a social impact organization with a mission to building 360-degree wholesome women in the areas of career, personal development, and community service.
The organization was launched on February 15, 2020, during the COVID pandemic, as a way to create a network of women from different sectors of the economy, career-wise to not only empower themselves but also assist their counterparts living with disabilities.
We empower women living with disabilities through our programs aimed at contributing our quota to the SDG2 goal of Zero Hunger, SDG8 goal of Decent work and Economic growth, SDG10 goal of Reduced inequality and SDG17 goal of Partnerships to achieve the goals.
The founders, Benedicta Afokhai and Kehinde Akande-Akangbe both being senior HR professionals, understood the plight differently-abled persons face when seeking employment and aimed to solve this problem with their inclusion program for female graduates living with disabilities.
The founders decided to take their advocacy a step further by setting up a monthly food bank program for women living with disabilities, where the organization fed fifty women from different local government areas within Lagos State monthly during and after the COVID pandemic.
